Back End DeveloperJul. 2026 – Present
I work on the backend systems that support Synchrony's banking applications, developing and maintaining Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs. The role involves working across an existing production codebase, reproducing defects, testing services locally, and making changes across different application environments.
What I do
- Develop and debug Java/Spring Boot microservices across a larger banking API ecosystem, tracing requests through controllers, services, repositories, databases, and supporting services.
- Reproduce and investigate defects locally using Postman, Swagger, application logs, breakpoints, and authenticated API requests.
- Work with MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, and other supporting infrastructure while configuring, running, and testing services locally.
- Work within the team's Git, Gradle, Jenkins, and deployment workflow to develop, test, and ship changes.
Artificial Intelligence EngineerMay 2026 – Jul. 2026
I worked on Synchrony's AI Solutions team, building internal AI applications and workflow automations with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, and related tools. My work focused on turning internal information and repetitive workflows into tools employees could use directly.
What I did
- Built a cybersecurity alerting agent that collected security updates from RSS sources, filtered and deduplicated recent alerts, and delivered relevant information through Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
- Developed an internal assistant for searching Synchrony policies, standards, and procedures, using company documents as its knowledge source and returning answers with citations back to the original material.
- Built a readable interface for an internal AI registry that transformed YAML configuration data into a format employees could browse and understand more easily.
- Built a financing simulator during Synchrony's intern hackathon that let users compare purchase scenarios and see how changes in financing terms affected payments over time.
